Bosch Rexroth collaborated with the Institute of Engineering and Technology to host an Open House Day designed to inspire a new generation of engineers.

The event took place at the Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre, Coventry, UK, and was attended by children between the ages of eight and 15. They were shown the important roles played by engineers in creating a variety of products, as well as discussing with them future career opportunities, and involving them in practical activities.

Andy Minturn, Business Development Manager at Bosch Rexroth, said of the event: “It was great to see so many children interested and wanting to know more about engineering. The challenges proved a hit with kids and parents alike, with some very keen contestants.

Alastair Johnstone, Managing Director at Bosch Rexroth, added: “We were delighted to participate in this initiative and to be able, through the breadth of our activities, to demonstrate the variety, creativity, excitement and personal satisfaction that a career in engineering can offer.

“Through events such as this… we can showcase in a tangible way the fantastic career opportunities that we can offer to address the shortfall which currently exists between demand and supply, enabling us in turn to shape the future of our industry.”
