Automotive manufacturing giant, Fiat, has been forced to withdraw sexist instruction manuals which include such sentiments as informing male drivers to ensure women with 'nice legs' sit in the back, lest they distract them.

After issuing these booklets in Italy and Argentina, the company has faced a huge social media backlash. Fiat responded by insisting the move was a marketing parody, and that it had no intention of causing offence.

The manual stated: "If a lady's skirt is too short, we recommend that she travel in the backseat to keep our concentration… if the skirt is not that short but you tend to have a wandering hand, she should also travel behind."

Also included was the following deeply questionable instruction: “Behave like a gentleman, you should know that if your partner, girlfriend or squeeze travels with friends, you should become the chauffeur for each and every one of them, taking the spot of the alpha male and dropping each one of them safe and sound at their resting place."

This is not the first of Fiat's recent issues; the company is attempting to recover from huge losses due to a glitch in the 500e, as reported by our sister sites Business Review USA and Business Review Europe.
