Applied Automation & Universal Robotics: Cobots for All
As technology advances, so too does the learning curve for interaction with and maintenance of machines. Whether that be employees or companies alike, but with a new training centre in Cardiff potentially breaking down these barriers, we may be seeing more Cobots in the workplace.
‘Cobots’, or Collaborative Robots, are designed around direct human interaction in a shared space, where humans and robots are in close proximity, unlike more industrial robotics seen in warehouses or factories.
The Danish manufacturer of small industrial cobots, Applied Automation, has been able to demonstrate their high standard of technical expertise and their trainers have since been certified to deliver hands-on modules that detail a range of cobot programming skills. From set-up, redeployment and interaction with third-party devices, the intention is to provide confidence in a range of support and knowledge to customers that wish to invest in their cobots.
Working alongside Universal Robots (UR), Applied Automation is striving to provide more user-friendly and cost-effective automated solutions through redeployable units, space-saving designs and usage across a plethora of production lines. By giving their customers the flexibility to make the most of their robotics, they can react to market demands much easier and provide more efficient output.

The facility itself is the first of its kind in Wales and stands to lower the barrier between more advanced robotics and companies looking to maximise their efficiency in a range of areas. With the entire world on the back foot from the early 2020 pandemic, it’s easy to see why these robotic solutions are being more widely looked into, and how important it is that certified, knowledgeable training accompanies these investments.
