The Belgian auto parts manufacturer, Punch Powertrain, has been selected by Groupe PSA to provde its electrified dual transmission (e-DTC) systems for vehicles.

Punch Powertrain will be supplying the e-DTC systems by 2022, aiding the French automobile firm’s electric vehicle (EV) strategy.

Groupe PSA recently announced its goal of having EVs span across its entire range by 2025.

Since the news, the firm has been working on mild-hybrid (MHEV), EVs, and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) in order to meet the target.

The French manufacturer claims it selected Punch Powertrain due to its “cutting-edge and patented dual clutch transmission design, which allows for fewer components, and hence a lighter and more compact transmission system.”

“In addition, it delivers outstanding performance and a very favorable fuel economy at a competitive cost. The next generation of this design, with a 48V motor configuration, will be installed by Groupe PSA in its vehicles,” the press release continued.
