Tesla set the goal of manufacturing 5,000 Model 3 vehicles in a week and was five hours short of meeting its deadline.

The firm finished producing its final electric sedan at 5:00am on Sunday morning following its deadline set a midnight, Reuters reported.

The goal was set by the firm’s Chief Executive Officer, Elon Musk, who now aims to produce 6,000 vehicles in the period of seven days next month.

The goal was finished at the assembly line of the facility in Fremont, California, factory workers informed Reuters.

It is currently unclear if Tesla is aiming to produce its vehicles at this speed on a regular basis in the future.

The company also successfully produce 7,000 of its Model S and Model X vehicles within a week.

“7000 cars, 7 days” the CEO tweeted, expressing his appreciation for the “Tesla Team”.

“I think we just became a real car company,” Elon Musk wrote, Reuters claims.

The target was set after Tesla continued to push back its internal targets, which led to the firm committing to manufacture 5,000 Model 3 vehicles per week in January.
