According to a recent survey carried out by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), the UK’s manufacturing order books showed recover in the second quarter of 2018.

In the three months leading to June, volume output grew for the 388 manufacturers surveyed at the highest rate since December last year.

From the industry’s 17 sub-sectors, 14 saw a rise in output – with Food, Drink, ad Tobacco, and Mechanical Engineering driving the growth.

“The recent uptick in orders is great news for the food and beverage sector. It demonstrates an encouraging level of confidence in UK manufacturing as a whole,” commented Chris Rason, Managing Director of Northern Europe operations at Aggreko.

“However, as they work to maintain efficient operations whilst meeting increased demand, manufacturers face two challenges. Firstly, they must ensure that energy supply can support manufacturing demand.”

“Secondly, manufacturers need to consider whether extra cooling equipment is required to maintain quality and consistency of output when orderbooks are full.

“But, demand is never guaranteed and big capital outlays are not the answer. Increasingly manufacturing customers are seeking gas generators to ensure flexible, stable and secure power which supports fluctuating output.”

“At times like this, manufacturers need solutions which can move with their business, and industry as a whole.”
