Bosch partners with Singapore Polytechnic to train students in advanced manufacturing with IoT
The German electronics firm, Robert Bosch GmbH, has partnered with the higher learning institution, Singapore Polytechnic.
The joint venture will develop two learning labs in the education centre that will be used to train students to use Internet of Things (IoT)in the advanced manufacturing industry.
The project will use advanced manufacturing process simulations on a scaled-down smart factory.
Bosch and Singapore Polytechnic aim to teach students with devices, targeting sensor data capturing and analysis, explained Lim Joo Ghe, Singapore Polytechnic’s Deputy Director of Technology and External Relations.

Whilst the labs are expected to receive 800 students a year for training, Bosch will also launch internships and practical training to students, the Sales Director for ASEAN at Bosh confirmed.
The German firm also intends to establish training courses for non-students in Singapore, targeting working professionals.
The courses will be established as part of the nation’s SkillsFuture training scheme.
Singapore’s Senior Minister of State for Trade & Industry and Minister of Education, Chee Hong Tat, has previously addressed the nation’s focus on advanced manufacturing and educational training in order to form a skilled workforce.
