Aquajet Systems, the Swedish global leader in hydrodemolition machine manufacturing, has introduced its new EcoClear water filtration system.

The machine works alongside the company’s line of hydrodemolition robots to treat wastewater produced by this process, neutralising the pH and making it clean enough to be released back into the environment. Methods of treating wastewater onsite have previously been inefficient, leading to increased costs and a negative environmental impact. EcoClear allows the hydrodemolition contractor to treat wastewater in real time.

“We want our customers to focus on what they do best — precise hydrodemolition of concrete bridges and other structures — not how they will manage the water removal. That’s why we developed EcoClear,” said Roger Simonsson, Managing Director of Aquajet Systems. “It collects, neutralises and removes solids without requiring the hassle of a separate water reservoir or filters. This enhances customers’ productivity while exceeding environmental regulations.”

EcoClear can process as much as 5,283 gallons of water per hour through treatment chambers that neutralise alkaline water to a pH of six to nine, and reduce turbidity to around 20-25mg of particles per litre. The entire procedure can be monitored and controlled using the RECO control system.

Expelled water is collected in an inlet chamber where a flocculating agent helps to clump the particles together in the water. A second chamber introduces carbon dioxide to neutalise the pH, and a third champer collects the clumped particles. One more chamber checks the pH again before it’s pumped out.

EcoClear is easy to maintain, clean, and run without the need for filters, and meets ISO container standards for ease of transportation, ticking all the boxes for sustainability and waste management.
