The aerospace division of Rolls Royce has signed a £160mn (US$227.8mn) contract with Bodycote, a heat treatment and thermal processing firm.
The 15-year-long contract will see Bodycote develop many of the manufacturers engines – including its Trent XWB, Trent 1000, Trent 7000, Trent 700 and Trent 900.
The Macclesfield-firm will offer its thermal processing services, including its specialised vacuum heat treatment and hot isostatic pressing (HIP), to Rolls-Royce’s facilities in Derby and Rotherham, UK.
The contract is anticipated to generate £160mn in incremental revenues throughout the durations of the contract.
"Bodycote's core business is to provide services that protect and improve the properties of metals and alloys, extending their operational life and making them safer,” Bodyote stated.
“The company plays a vital role in the aerospace supply chain,” the statement continued.
