The German engineering and electronics firm, Bosch, has opened an Internet of Things (IoT) prototype hub in German’s capital city.

The company will be incorporating its global IoT activities within the new €3mn (US$3.68mn) campus, located at the Tempelhofer Hafen in the creative Ullsteinhaus district.

Bosch has appointed more than 250 associates from different domains to work at its new site, and expects that within the next few years there will be approximately 400.

The experts will advise and support customers on developing and implementing solutions for Industry 4.0, connected mobility, smart cities, and smart homes.

For the firm, Berlin works as a hotspot for software and hardware providers, technology partners, and startups.

The location is also the Bosch Software Innovations GmbH’s headquarters, previously in Schöneberger Ufer.

“With our new premises, we are building bridges between our own IoT experts and others in Berlin’s creative and digital scenes,” said Dr Volkmar Denner, CEO of Bosch.

“We believe in openness for the internet of things – open ecosystems and open collaboration and partnership. This idea is also reflected in the campus concept.”
