Technology company Ricoh has announced that it is buying Anajet, the global market leader in DTG (direct to garment) printing.

This investment is a strategic move by Ricoh to increase its portfolio by utilising connections to the clothing production world, alongside its focus on office and commercial print technologies. Anajet was one of the first companies in the world to mass produce DTG printers, and the American company will soon be a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ricoh Printing Systems America, Inc.

Ricoh has a stronghold on international leadership in inkjet printhead development, but by working with Anajet, broader print solutions will be available to customers, enabling businesses to cater to more diverse demands.

Junichi Matsuno, General Manager of Ricoh’s Inkjet Business Division, said of the Anajet purchase: “Ricoh has a long history of successful, strategic acquisitions that have helped our customers and partners around the world find new, effective ways to better serve their end users. With the addition of AnaJet, our collective customers benefit from a larger support team, added innovation and access to a services-led portfolio of solutions to ultimately help them grow their business. AnaJet already possesses a proven reputation as a leader in DTG printing and as such, it is a great complement to Ricoh’s broad portfolio.”
