Manufacturing leaders connect online for digital twins

Industry leaders learn how manufacturers around the world are building agility and flexibility into their operations by leveraging the digital twin

At IX Network’s recent online event (November 16, 2021), Digital Twins in Manufacturing, over 500 attendees from leading organisations such as, Bayer, Estee Lauder, Ford, Johnson & Johnson, and more, came together online to hear how manufacturers around the world are building agility and flexibility into their operations by leveraging the digital twin.

Digital twins in manufacturing

Digital Twins offer the opportunity to manufacturers to use the data and information they have at their fingertips to reduce operating expenses, accelerate production and make better – and faster - decisions. By replicating physical equipment or processes in a virtual environment, manufacturers can digitally replicate and analyse their entire manufacturing footprint for potential pain points.

During the online event, Darren Haverkamp, Technical Director for Hill's Pet Division of Colgate, presented how the consumer products giant has been using a digital twin in their manufacturing operations in order to improve quality and reduce raw material loss. (You can learn more about Colgate’s digital twin journey here, on the Industrial Transformation Network’s website.)

We also heard case studies from Aveva, TIBCO, and InfluxData on the technology requirements for digital twins and examples of their use in manufacturing, how open-source software can be a valuable building block for modern, reliable, capable, and secure digital twins, and how the technology provides a platform for decision making, process optimization, and training support.
